Is this an extreme car 2?

I've emailed this ebay seller for more info about if this is an Extreme car & when the kit was fitted but had no responce? I believe it is a Extreme but can anybody confirm it please.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320477444811&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

What are the forums thoughts?

Ideally I'd like a red car and the yellow interior looks OTT but with a general tidy up, genuine 355 wheels & interior changed I think It maybe worth a punt - maybe even a re-spray too.

Hey Drew - is your 355 nearly finished now? And is it still available? If so have you any Pictures to show us please.

Re: is this an extreme car?

I think it could be. The side scoops have the little return at the end, the side windows are fully removed and replaced with new, the rear bumper centre section is the same height at the sides as the middle which makes me think it has been tweaked at the rear. My guess from a quick look at those pics is, yep - Extreme.

I would ideally like to finish mine, mainly for my own satisfaction since I have put a lot of work into it, but as always, everything has its price. With the way the economy is at the moment and the number of projects I have lined up, I am more and more likely to part with it for a reasonable offer! Remember mine comes with wheels at the correct offset, 19" versions of the 355 wheel, full coilovers, genuine rear lights, full oem airboxes and pipework at the rear, oem badges and gear gate, 355 steering wheel, its an N reg 96 UK car that I have owned for about 8-9 years.

I have all my pic on my phone but lost my download lead again, so I will try to e-mail some to my photobucket account to put on here.

Basically, I have filler primed it all with a heavy coat, flatted the whole front end and pass side back to almost no primer to get the panels nice and smooth. Reprimed these areas & thats how it stands. I did paint the front wing in red just to convince myself it was the right colour choice, but it was flatted back & reprimed. Needs drivers side heavy primed and flatted, then topcoat (& laquer if I think it needs it, but currently not)

I will add pics in my build diary to show the above description as soon as I can.

If you want it & want to specify colour you have about a week to put deposit down!!! Heheheh!

I'd say this one is an extreme one, but if it has visible cracks, these can be very hard to remedy properly with the kit bonded on and already painted

The wheels really dont suit the car either do they !

If your after a finished one, i can highly recomend Drews. You'll get one of the best finished kits out there.

Re: Is this an extreme car 2?

Hi Drew

Love to see some pictures of the car as it is, is it a 1996 Uk base car and a 'N' or 'P' reg & whats the mileage? How long do you reckon you need to finish it? We have a 2000 'V' Uk 'T' Bar with only 41,000 miles on the clock that we have been concidering using as a donor but a ready made top notch example does seem very appealing!

Re: Is this an extreme car 2?

Cheers guys!

The car is on an N plate, it has unfortunately just gone over the 100k miles mark which although only an average of 7k miles per year, is likely to put some off. I fully intended to keep the car when I decided to use my MR2 as I knew the history & that I had serviced and looked after it. That was before I kind of started the 'collection' so now its going to have to go. Spent loads of time and money on it, since I was going to keep it, but the murci is calling!!!!

The pics in my build diary show the car as it is now, it needs one more coat of primer, about 3 or 4 hours light sanding and final tiny bits of stopper to get it ready. Then its a full hit of red and a smile on my face!

Then after that it is just all the refit of interior, lights, windows, grilles, arch liners, new fuel pump and the mods to the exhaust (it doesnt sit central in the openings & it will bug the hell out of me!

I would say all that could be done in about a month, but as everyone on here knows I always take longer than I intend to as my jobs always end up being pushed down the pecking order

Feel free to make an offer as it is, all the hard work has been done for the sprayjob. But I think once the paint is on and I have started to reassemble I wouldnt sell as there really isnt that much left to do & I will have the satisfaction (& extra cash) of having a finished car.

Re: Is this an extreme car 2?

Hi Drew - Thanks again for letting us view your build diary - very impressed with the build detail. I'm keen now (as is) but my father thinks were better waiting for the finished car! Can you pm me with some figures that may change his mind please. Cheers - Pete.

Hi Drew - hows that 355 coming along? We are still interested but are still considering having a kit fitted to our car too.

Heres a picture of it - Year 2000 on a V plate with only 41k on the clock. It's a UK T Bar with leather, one of the last produced we think -what does everyone think about using it as a donor? Is it just to good to use as I'm not sure a later low mileage car adds any extra value to the finished car anyway.

Re: Is this an extreme car 2?

Hi mate, still sat there in the garage in primer, masked up read to go! I have been making some supports for the bootlid and getting the grilles and front fog tubes sorted. No paint yet as I havent had enough time in one go to get it done (need a full weekend to myself to do it all) & dont want to leave it half way through.

I stay at 2 places now & I have the 355 at one & murci at the other, so far the murci is beating the 355 for attention, although the horses beat BOTH the 355 and the murci for attention! Angry

Re: Is this an extreme car 2?

I understand that trying to build two replicas at the same time in two different locations must be hard work. Just update your 355 build diary when things start happening again if you can & in the meantime I'll keep a look out on ebay and in Autotrader for any finished examples that may come up for sale. I know when speaking to extreme last year at Newark they were talking about 6 - 9 months wait to fit a kit for us on our car? It's nice to see a British company with a waiting list in the present climate though, we've just had our figures out for 2009 and made a small loss - the first since we started our business 7 years ago Cry
